About Student Support Services:

Madera Community College Student Support Services (SSS-ESL) is a free federal TRIO Program that serves students who are first generation, and/or low-income, and/or have a disability and for whom English is a second language and/or who are of limited English proficiency.

This program provides academic support and guidance to help Madera Community College students overcome the challenges of obtaining a Certificate, AA/AS degree, AA-T/AS-T degree and/or transfer to a four-year university. We strive to increase graduation, retention, academic standing, and transfer rates for underrepresented college students who qualify for the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent resident, or meet residency requirements for federal financial aid
• Must be enrolled in a degree, certificate, or transfer program at Madera Community College
• Must be enrolled in 12 units and in good academic standing (2.0 GPA)
• Have not completed more than 50 college units
• English is a second language and/or you are of limited English proficiency

Also, one or more of the following must apply:

• I am from a low-income family and/or
• My parent(s)/guardian(s) did not graduate from a four-year college and/or
• I have a disability
