On June 13, the Madera Upward Bound Program officially had its summer kickoff. Over 100 Madera students participated in a weeklong summer residential program at Reedley College. Rising Senior, Stephanie Hernandez Santos (pictured), was among the students interviewed for the ABC 30 Educational Watch segment. During the kickoff week, students participated in internship and job training classes; science; Math with Puzzles; robotics; and English classes. The week concluded with a campus visit to Stanford University.
Students returned to the Madera Community College campus to continue their studies. Various students are taking college credit courses. Many rising seniors are completing internships in the community with, for example, the Madera Sheriff’s Department, Madera Department of Corrections, Madera Community Hospital, Madera Animal Shelter, and Madera County Library.
