Good afternoon Colleagues,
The momentum continues for Madera Community College!
MCC was named a 2022 Equity Champion of Higher Education for its exemplary work in implementing the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) to Latinx students this afternoon by the Campaign for College Opportunity (notification went public today at 12pm).
As a top performer, MCC supported at least 65% of Latinx associate-degree earners to earn an ADT.
In August, the college was announced as the Lumina Foundation’s grand prize winner in the Million Dollar Community College Challenge.
The awards demonstrate the commitment to equity and anti-racism that is producing positive results. Critical to the successes are the holistic services the college is providing for students.
President Angel Reyna stated, “The work we are doing is contributing to these results and we are collectively doing this.”
On Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. on Zoom, MCC’s achievement will be recognized at the Champions of Higher Education Celebration. The event is expected to draw hundreds of attendees representing California’s higher education leadership, elected officials, civic and business leaders.
The Campaign for College Opportunity is a non-profit bipartisan organization that works towards increasing the number of California students attending two-and four-year colleges and who complete their college education.
Let’s take a moment to celebrate these great accomplishments.
Ángel Reyna, Ed.D.
President
