Madera Community College (MCC) moved most courses to remote learning under the Governor’s order. MCC’s Phase-in Plan is posted at each location where there will be face-to-face activity. Only those instructional and non-instructional programs that must meet in person and that follow the provisions of this plan, will be allowed to continue.
MCC approved program leads will post a written notice of the phased-in activities occurring at that location at each building entrance.
The President will designate a Lead COVID-19 Supervisor to monitor and enforce the MCC Phase-in Reentry Plan. Covid-19 Supervisors (Area Supervisor) will also be designated for each authorized area; additional COVID-19 Supervisors shall be appointed as necessary. Each COVID-19 Supervisor will be available while there program is operating on campus and enforce these COVID-19 safety plans. Each COVID-19 Supervisor will be available while their program is operating on campus. COVID-19 Supervisors shall direct concerns, needs, or questions to the Lead COVID-19 Supervisor for resolution. Supervisors will keep a log verifying the completion of all required trainings by students and employees. A list of COVID-19 safety requirements will be posted in all locations where instruction or work will be conducted (CDC - Prevent Getting Sick )
The Program Supervisor will ensure that all instructional and workspaces are set up to provide at least a six-foot distance between all students and instructors/employees. Gatherings of any size will be monitored by the Program Supervisor so that social distancing protocols are continually enforced. The Program Supervisor will identify and ensure that “High Risk Areas” will be cordoned off or monitored to maintain social distancing; only one person at a time will be allowed in these areas. Individual worktables, workstations or equipment will be spaced at least six feet apart to minimize interactions; class sizes will be limited to ensure social distancing is maintained. Only one class of students will be allowed in the instructional areas during designated class time, and a six-foot separation will be maintained at all times. Approval for individual based learning/one-on-one meetings must include an effective plan for an equivalent means of social distancing through elements such as physical barriers, ventilation, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and health monitoring.
Each COVID-19 Supervisor will provide a list to administration of necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for their areas. Each student or employee is required to wear a face covering/face shield at the time they arrive at the institution. The Program Supervisor will monitor to assure that face coverings are worn at all times by every registered student and authorized employee at the location in accordance with California Department of Public Health guidelines.
Soap and running water will be accessible for frequent handwashing; signage will be posted with instructions on when and how to properly wash hands. Students and employees are required to wash their hands at the beginning and end of each class period, including breaks for lunch or other regular classroom or work breaks. Students and employees are encouraged to leave their workstations to wash their hands regularly and/or to use alcohol-based hand sanitizers frequently. Students and employees must wash their hands before and after going to the bathroom, before and after eating, and after coughing, sneezing, or blowing their nose. MCC will provide alcohol-based hand sanitizers (while supplies last) inside each instructional area for easy access and sanitizers will contain greater than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol; these are not a replacement for the soap and water requirements listed above. All required hygienic practices as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will be posted including:
Building Services staff will be trained, expectations given, and documentation kept, to ensure all high-touch surfaces (such as tables, door handles, etc.), including shared use tools/training equipment and a person’s workstation, will be cleaned, sanitized and disinfected according to CDC recommendations.
Any person showing any signs of illness or expressing a concern about feeling ill will be sent home immediately and their station/area will be immediately and thoroughly disinfected.
Students and employees will be advised to stay home or leave the location if they are feeling sick or have been in close contact with a confirmed, positive case, and will also be told to seek medical attention and inform the Program Supervisor if they develop any of the COVID-19 symptoms. Students and employees must notify the Program Supervisor and follow the District COVID Protocol: Positive Test if they have a sick family member at home with Covid-19 and they must follow the isolation/quarantine requirements established by the California State Department of Public Health.
If a student or employee develops COVID-19 symptoms (respiratory problems, fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, or new loss of taste or smell) while away from campus they will be asked not to return until they have been evaluated by a health care provider; and follow our district policy on reporting.
If a student or employee is confirmed to have COVID-19, MCC will inform students/employees of their possible exposure to COVID-19 on campus while maintaining confidentiality of the infected person as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). MCC will provide fellow students and employees with information about how to proceed based on the CDC Public Health Recommendations for Community-Related Exposure (CDC - Sick With 2019 nCoV Fact-Sheet (PDF)).
MCC will not permit any visitors to instructional and non-instructional locations other than authorized employees (Program Supervisor/course instructor(s) for the specific class using the space, safety and security staff, custodial and maintenance staff, district staff, and technology services staff) students that have made an appointment to utilize non-instructional spaces and students registered in the class using the space. Documentation of these persons will be kept on file for the Fall semester, including name, phone number, email address and any related COVID-19 information requirements.
Architects, contractors, inspectors, etc. requiring access to any campus facility must attest that they are not exhibiting any symptoms of COVID 19 or sick prior to stepping on to campus and are required to wear face coverings; the name, email address and phone number of each visitor will be recorded and kept on file during the Fall Semester.
